ANCESTRY OF ROOKE FAMILY OF TASMANIA. Lt. Col. Benjamin Henry Rooke (1809), an intrepid professional soldier, arrived in Tasmania in 1855 and took up several public appointments. His descendants distinguished themselves in many ways, and married into old Tasmanian families.
